What is Inner Space Technique
Inner Space Technique (IST) is an interactive regression and sourcing modality developed by Dr. Samuel Sagan of the Clairvision School. It is a meditative, consciousness-based approach to healing that guides clients into altered states of awareness—also known as liminal or inner space—in order to access deeper layers of the psyche.
Rather than focusing solely on the surface of symptoms or behavior, IST helps clients locate and resolve the root causeof patterns, emotional blocks, or pain. This might include early-life experiences, subconscious beliefs, suppressed emotions, or unresolved energetic imprints.
During a session, the client is fully conscious and guided through a process of inner exploration. The technique invites the wisdom of the body and soul to arise, often leading to profound insights, emotional release, and lasting transformation.
How is it different than Chi Nei Tsang
While Chi Nei Tsang (CNT) works primarily through the body—using breath and touch to release stored emotions and trauma in the abdomen—IST works through the field of consciousness.
CNT opens the body and energy channels, which often leads naturally into a liminal, receptive state. From there, IST offers a direct way to explore what’s arising on the emotional, energetic, and spiritual levels. Together, they create a powerful synergy: bodywork opens the door, and IST walks through it.
That said, IST is a complete and powerful modality on its own, especially useful when touch-based work isn't possible. It is highly effective as a remote session, allowing deep healing to happen across distance.
How does it fit in Xu’s practices.
As a somatic healer, Xu blends body-based and consciousness-based healing. In many sessions, she begins with Chi Nei Tsang to unwind the body and gently open the client into a more spacious, receptive state. Then, using IST, she guides the client inward to uncover and resolve what lies beneath the surface—whether emotional, energetic, or spiritual in nature.
For remote clients or those working specifically with emotional or energetic blocks, IST is offered as a stand-alone session. It’s ideal for those seeking clarity, inner guidance, or resolution of recurring patterns.
Xu's approach is always intuitive and individualized. Each session is co-created in the moment, responding to the client’s energy and needs.
How is it different from therapy or guided meditation?
Unlike traditional talk therapy, IST goes beyond the mental story and taps directly into the emotional and energetic body. It's also more interactive than guided meditation—you're not just being led, you're actively exploring your own inner landscape with support.
What kinds of issues can IST help with?
IST is especially supportive for emotional patterns, inner blocks, recurring life challenges, spiritual quests, and trauma that isn’t easily accessed through talk therapy or bodywork. It’s also a powerful tool for those on a self-development or awakening path.
What does a typical IST session look like?
You’ll be guided into a relaxed, meditative state while staying fully conscious and aware. I’ll support you in tracking sensations, images, emotions, and memories that arise. Through gentle questions and presence, we’ll follow the thread to uncover and work with the deeper root of what’s showing up.
How should I prepare for an IST session?
You’ll be lying down for the session, so please wear comfortable clothing.
To support a clear and receptive state, I recommend:
– No recreational drugs or alcohol for at least 24 hours prior
– No caffeine on the day of the session (if possible)
– Create a quiet, undisturbed space if we’re working remotely
– Allow some gentle time afterward to rest or journal
That depends on what you’re working with. Some people feel a big shift after just one session, while others benefit from ongoing support. We’ll assess after our first session what rhythm best supports your process.
How many sessions do I need?
How long is an IST session, and how much does it cost?
A standard IST session is 1 hour, and the cost is $220. Sessions can be done in person or remotely. If you're in Los Angeles, I recommend starting in person if possible.
I also offer 2-hour sessions that include two parts: the first is Chi Nei Tsang to open the body and energy system, followed by Inner Space Technique to explore the emotional and energetic roots. These sessions are $350 and offer a deeper, more complete healing experience.
